Marriott International, Grupo Puntacana and MAC Hotels have opened the W Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, as the brand's first adults-only all-inclusive location worldwide.
The resort has 340 guestrooms and suites, each starting at 700 square feet. Every room includes a bathtub and exclusively features king-size bed configurations, including the two-bed suites and the Oasis Mega Suites. Additionally, 46 suites feature exclusive swim-up pools, including select suites with full-sized private pools.
Design
The property’s design was conceived by Zanobia Arquitectura, a Spanish firm that emphasizes sustainability in its projects. The resort integrates local elements with the brand's signature style, where architecture and interiors reflect the colors and textures of the Caribbean. Design elements, inspired by the region’s colonial heritage and tobacco plantations, are complemented by natural materials. The aesthetic motifs were inspired by larimar, the national stone, alongside décor influenced by native fauna such as dragonflies and colorful seashells.
The resort’s public areas similarly incorporate endemic flora to improve sustainability. The low-density design promotes a balanced atmosphere, avoiding overcrowded spaces.
The communal layout resembles a village with pockets of privacy. The resort has a 400-meter beachfront paired with the brand’s signature WET Deck, an 80-meter infinity pool and the Chill Pool with a swim-up bar and sunbeds.
Food & Beverage
The W Punta Cana has 12 restaurants, bars and lounges serving a range of options from multicultural and Asian to Dominican and Caribbean flavors. Trade Market is a food hall concept unique to the island with live-action stations inspired by global street food. Scena serves contemporary Dominican and Caribbean-inspired cuisines. Other options include Noodle Bar, serving Pan Asian street fare, and Sensazioni, a bar and events theater.
The resort’s mixology program includes Taproom—a modern reinterpretation of a traditional microbrewery and beer hall—and Taman Beach Club, the resort’s social hub. The Living Room Bar serves cocktails with a Dominican twist, highlighting house-made infusions and locally inspired ingredients while the 33 1/3 Speakeasy incorporates vinyl records.
Wellness
The Away Spa has 10 treatment rooms and a menu inspired by local traditions and products including turmeric, arnica and the single-pressed moringa seed oil. The facility has a steam room, Himalayan salt room, sauna and an indoor pool. The spa includes a full-service beauty salon and a 1,500-square-foot signature FIT gym.
Meetings & Events
The property has 14,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces across nine venues, including a grand ballroom that spans 5,380 square feet, six breakout rooms and an indoor flex space.
Following the W Punta Cana, two additional W Hotels all-inclusive properties are set to open in Corasol Playa del Carmen and Costa Mujeres in 2028 and 2029, respectively.
