MMI Hotel Group to manage Memphis, Tenn., boutique hotel

MMI Hotel Group has returned to the Memphis, Tenn., market through a new management agreement for the boutique River Inn of Harbor Town and its signature dining outlets. MMI will oversee day-to-day operations while leading a long-term, strategic campaign to reimagine the property's guest experience and restaurant offerings.

A key focus of this new chapter will be the revitalization of River Inn’s three dining outlets. Paulette’s Restaurant, rooftop retreat Terrace at the River Inn and Tug’s Casual Grill will undergo renovations.

“The opportunity to evolve a property like the River Inn comes with a deep sense of respect,” said Dominic Buompastore, vice president of operations, MMI Hotel Group. “We’re thrilled to be back in the Memphis market—a city where we’ve had great success—and to bring our experience in reimagining food and beverage operations to a place as iconic as Harbor Town. Our mission is to reintroduce the River Inn and its beloved dining experiences in a way that feels bold, relevant, and deeply rooted in what makes this community special.”

The agreement marks MMI’s return to Memphis. The company is co-developer and co-designer of The Memphian Hotel in Overton Square as well as its signature dining concepts, Tiger and Peacock and Complicated Pilgrim.

“After extensive due diligence, our ownership believes that MMI has the capability, experience and talent to assist us in elevating our wonderful hospitality offering to the next level,” said Thom Weller, president, River Inn of Harbor Town. “We have already committed the resources necessary to enhance our property and are quite anxious to provide the upgraded experience to our customers.”

MMI plans to lead a transition at River Inn with a focus on strengthening operational performance while preserving the distinctive character and legacy of Harbor Town. As part of its approach, MMI will engage local businesses, incorporate regionally inspired Southern brands and embrace the new urbanism principles that define the neighborhood.
