Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Hyatt hotels name sales, marketing leaders

A number of branded, dual-branded and a few independent hotels have appointed sales and marketing leaders in recent weeks. Here are some names to know. 

AC Hotel by Marriott North Phoenix at Norterra and Element by Westin North Phoenix at Norterra

North Texas-based developer Jackson-Shaw and Tucson-based Holualoa Companies have named Joe Hautem director of sales for their dual-branded AC Hotel by Marriott North Phoenix at Norterra and Element by Westin North Phoenix at Norterra

Hautem has held leadership roles at The Arizona Grand, The Scott Resort, High Country Motor Lodge, FireSky Resort & Spa and Aloft Phoenix. 

AC Hotel St. Augustine

McKibbon Hospitality has appointed Gabriela Moreno director of sales for the upcoming AC Hotel St. Augustine, Fla.

Most recently director of sales & marketing at Four Points by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront, Moreno is a graduate of Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism.

Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach and Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach

Davidson Hotels has appointed  Lindsay Mistretta area director of sales and marketing for the Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach (Calif.), A Hilton Resort & Spa, and the Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach.

Mistretta has held sales leadership roles in Boston, New York and San Diego, including more than a decade with Omni Hotels & Resorts, culminating as director of sales at Omni San Diego. She went on to become area director of sales for Noble House Hotels, overseeing properties including L’Auberge Del Mar, Estancia La Jolla and Mission Bay Resort, where she led relaunch strategies following multimillion-dollar renovations. Most recently, she spearheaded sales at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe following its $45 million reopening. 

Hilton New Orleans St. Charles Avenue

HRI Hospitality appointed Alexandra Cocco director of sales and marketing at the Hilton New Orleans St. Charles Avenue. 

Cocco joins Hilton New Orleans St. Charles Avenue from Sage Hospitality Group where she was director of sales and marketing. Before that, she held sales manager roles across various local properties including Hilton New Orleans Riverside, Embassy Suites by Hilton and Hotel Indigo.

Hyatt Place Indianapolis Downtown & Hyatt House Indianapolis Downtown

HRI Hospitality also appointed Tammy Wade director of sales and marketing at the dual-branded Hyatt Place Indianapolis Downtown and Hyatt House Indianapolis Downtown.

Wade joins the team from Hospitality Ventures Management Group where she advanced through multiple sales roles to become the area director of sales and marketing. Before that, Wade spent six years as the senior sales manager at Hilton. 

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach (Calif.) Resort & Spa appointed Jason Baer director of sales and marketing. 

Baer most recently was director of sales and marketing at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa in Hawaii, where he helped oversee recovery efforts following the Lahaina wildfires. Before Maui, Baer held leadership roles at Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa and Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. He also previously was senior sales manager at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach from 2015 to 2018.

The Industrialist Hotel 

HRI Hospitality appointed Marissa Watson director of sales and marketing at The Industrialist Hotel in Pittsburgh.

Watson joins The Industrialist Hotel from SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Pittsburgh where she worked as director of sales and marketing before being promoted to operations manager. Before that, Watson gained experience as general manager at the Holiday Inn Express in Butler, Pa., and assistant general manager at the Hampton Inn & Suites/Holiday Inn Express in Cranberry Township, Pa. 

IHG Luxury & Lifestyle Americas 

IHG has appointed Gina Genna senior area director of marketing for the Texas region, including InterContinental San Antonio and InterContinental Houston in addition to continuing her work as director of marketing at the InterContinental Miami, a role she has held for the past five years.

Her career in hospitality began at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., where she started as advertising coordinator and eventually became advertising manager. Over seven years, she led campaigns and helped launch key property features including Hard Rock Live, 13 bars and lounges, 11 restaurants and numerous gaming innovations.

The Jay

The Jay, Autograph Collection appointed Madeline Wolfe as the marketing and partnership manager—a new role for the hotel. 

Wolfe previously was an account executive at J. Wade Public Relations and an associate account manager at af&co where she led marketing campaigns, strategic partnerships and media relations for a number of hospitality clients. 

Table Mountain Inn

Shanequa Owens is the new assistant director of sales at the Table Mountain Inn in Golden, Colo. Owens has been an area and single property director of sales for the past six years, working for both private hotels and Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott-branded properties. 

Her most recent position was director of sales for TownePlace Suites Denver West/Federal Center.
